I have had contact with a company that can magnafluxed these, I would just blast them first. It's a good deal all around.īy Ake Osterdahl on Sunday, Janu03:17 am: Double safety.īy Ricks_-_Surf_City on Sunday, Janu02:18 am:Ī double wishbone will take much of the load off the primary one, and will result in less stress on the perch. I will use also the accessory lower vishbone too. Not the guy who knows the guy who's brother in law can get it done by his buddy.īy Ake Osterdahl on Sunday, Janu01:39 am: If you really want to use them then, yes, definitely have them magnafluxed by a certified non-destructive testing facility. I have seen Model T perches twisted 90 degrees without breaking. Whether the broken shock caused the accident or was a product of it, it should not have broken. If it were my car, I would not use those shocks after having seen what happened in the Meeks accident. With as many offsets and odd angles as these have, both false positives and false negatives are common.īy Jerry VanOoteghem on Saturday, Janu10:09 pm: Magnafluxing should be done by someone with the experience to know what they are looking at and for. Ultrasound is better.īy Wayne Sheldon, Grass Valley, CA on Saturday, Janu09:51 pm: Iether one is a good check for something like this. Royce, do you recommend magnaflux, or a dye check?īy Royce Peterson on Saturday, Janu07:41 pm:

I would not take comfort in the fact that it was probably not a K-W.Ĭritical parts such as this need to be checked for cracks. Regardless, the perch should not have broken. The broken perch was the most likely cause of the accident. The car was apparently going down the road at 35-40 mph, when the car went out of control and rolled over. or?īy Ricks_-_Surf_City on Saturday, Janu03:04 pm: yes this thread I read, it was your car!īy Ake Osterdahl on Saturday, Janu02:16 pm: This thread shows a pic of Ken Meek's car where the LH side accessory shock/perch that didn't break can be seen: īy Ake Osterdahl on Saturday, Janu02:12 pm: Thanks Glenn, I'm still learning stuff every day here I have a nice pair like that for sale if you are interested.īy Roger Karlsson, southern Sweden on Saturday, Janu02:08 pm: or?īy Royce Peterson on Saturday, Janu01:28 pm: They're not warm about them to the same angle. I have a complete kit for my 1915, but the 1918 car, it is these that I have. either both straight or both angled.īy Ake Osterdahl on Saturday, Janu12:47 pm: I do not know why they did this but they did, You should not mix them as a set.

one set is angled and the other straight up. What happened to the car when this happened?īy Ricks_-_Surf_City on Saturday, Janu12:33 pm:ĭo a search on Ken Meeks in the 2011 Forum.īy Glen Chaffin on Saturday, Janu12:40 pm:ĪKE< KW made both styles. A similar one broke, and is probably what caused a fatal accident last summer.īy Ake Osterdahl on Saturday, Janu12:20 pm: I would have them magnafluxed before installing. (Royce posted this picture of his 1915 in 2008)īy Ricks_-_Surf_City on Saturday, Janu12:01 pm: but I haven't had any of those - don't know more than what's in these threads: Great suggestions from Allan above, but still, the coil springs are supposed to point more or less straight up when mounted, the left one appears bent to me? A great accessory for your 1918 with above the axle wishbone. You will be able to work out which way they face by working out the caster on the king pins, and installing them to suit.īy Roger Karlsson, southern Sweden on Saturday, Janu08:49 am: They will be installed that way in the axle. If you turn the one on the right around to face the other, you will find they will be a mirror image of each other. As such, when fitted, one faces one way and the other the opposite way. Those shockers take the place of the front spring perches. Why has my two shock absorbers with different angles, what is the difference? it surely know someone.īy Allan Bennett on Saturday, Janu07:47 am: Shock absorbers, which differ in the angles see photoīy Ake Osterdahl on Saturday, Janu05:47 am: Model T Ford Forum: Shock absorbers, which differ in the angles see photo Shock absorbers, which differ in the angles see photo
